Photo-Finish Friday…

This photo is the inspiration for the flash piece I wrote and posted on Monday, P-p-pornotholgy!  Click here to read if you missed it!
This was taken at lunchtime on Monday and features the Great Tit and the smaller Blue Tit.  I’m not a nerdy bird-watcher, but I just love birds and was fascinated by how many of them were feeding.  There were a few feeders in the garden of where I’m working, and they were being hit non-stop!  As a bonus, a woodpecker turned up and I managed to get a pretty decent photo of it.  I’ll share that one soon!
I was a bit lucky in the way I caught the two birds “in flight”.  I hope you like!

  1. I could spend hours watching bird feeders. Hummingbirds and woodpeckers are my favorites.

  2. Excellent photo, David. I love watching the birdies.

  3. I think bird-watching with a camera makes you a bird nerd. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) We get a great variety at our place in the desert, and they sing their hearts out. My favorites are the hummingbirds. Some of them outside the window got me through a week-long stay in the hospital a few years ago.

  4. Thanks guys. You are so lucky to have hummingbirds knocking about. When we were back in Manchester, the only birds we saw were pigeons, starlings and magpies. Even the common sparrow was getting out of the place!

  5. P.s. Ron – I have my camera with me every single day I go to work because I just can't get enough of the surroundings that I live amongst. 39 years living in a concrete jungle can do that to someone. And yes, I probably am a tiny bit of a nerdy bird-watcher. Let's face it, those guys were around when dinosaurs ruled the earth!
