Photo-Finish Friday…..

The Red Kite.

Yes, I have a new camera and I caught this one a couple of weekends ago.  This magnificent bird of prey disappeared from the area some time ago but has slowly returned over the past twelve months or so.  Click here for more info on the bird.

  1. Oh wow, that's a lovely shot! Have a nice weekend!

  2. Great pic. Well done. And I'm so happy the Red Kite is making a comeback.

  3. Another great pic. Your blog is looking tremendous as well. Cool pic of you too!

  4. Very, very cool. Wish they had digital cameras back in the old days when one saw a lot more birds of prey than nowadays.

  5. Wow. I saw Red Kites down in Dorset a hew years back. Beautiful.

  6. Interesting – I posted a comment here earlier and now it's disappeared.Yet another wonderful picture, David. And I see you changed your profile piccie, too. Nice hair! 😉

  7. Great pictures of both the Red Kite and you dressed up as a witch. If you ever get on this side of the pond someone will have to introduce you to the fine example of American politics running for senate in Delaware. Google "Christine O'Donnell" and it will make sense.

  8. Re: the witch pic. If I squint me eyes, the stashe kind of make you look like Johnny Depp 😉

  9. Thanks guys. I'm just getting used to my new camera so I will hopefully have some new photos for you to look at soon.As for the new photo. It was taken by my 4 years old and it was her idea to wear HER halloween hat. I swear!

  10. Good for the birds! With the drop in pesticide use and cleaning up some local rivers… we have EAGLES back in my part of the world! A friend lives in a semi-urban area along a river and has a nesting pair in one of his oak trees. Good on the birds!

  11. Those Red Kitey Hawkey Eagle things are brilliant. I managed to get a picture of four of them circling above me as I walked my mutt in Oxfordshire. Awesome creatures.

  12. Before I look at the info page, I thought I would guess what the wing span might be of this bird. Looks to be better than 4 feet. Apparently 4 feet was on the small side. Certainly a magnificent bird. What a great image to have in your collection. I hope to finally get a decent picture of the nesting pair of bald eagels that reside a short distance from my home this winter. The only way to get close to them is by boat or by crossing the ice. I don't have a boat, but I love to ride on the ice, Maybe this year.Nice shot David

  13. Thanks peeps. Appreciate you looking.
