Photo-Finish-Friday…….

Yes, I know it’s only Thursday, but I may (or may not be) busy tomorrow.  The joys of self employment.  Just pretend its Friday….
So, I have no camera at the moment due to it rolling over and dying on me.  This photo was taken a few years ago whilst on a European Tour when we had a camper van.  We drove down though France and Spain and visited my brother-in-law and his wife who live on the Costa Del Sol.
The following photo was taken on our homebound journey when we stopped for a few days in a place (an island) called La Rochelle, in France.  I’d taken a walk with my daughter (asleep in her pushchair) and caught this little critter in a little bit of undergrowth.  The photo I wanted happened a few seconds after this one.  It reared up and “opened up” as if to strike and my camera was too slow.  Oh well, the female of the species always make us wait!

Photo Finish Friday is the creation of Leah J. Utas.  Please check out her blog, you won’t be disappointed.
Hope you like.  I will have a new camera soon.  Your comments are more than welcome……..

  1. A European tour sounds amazing! I'd love to do that someday. :)Great picture but, how do you know it's a female? Because it opened up but made you wait for it?? Hmmmm… 😛 LOL! You're funny. :)((Hugs))Laura

  2. How did you get her to pose?

  3. Laura – She showed me her 'hooters'!David – I used the "macros" setting on my camera and I think it was just startled by the camera getting so close. I also got some great photos of some lizards that were close by as well. Maybe I'll post them soon.

  4. Excellent. She really is a ham.

  5. eeeuw – not keen on creepy crawlies! But I admire your talent – even if I'm not taken with the particular subject matter.BTW – was she really that green or have you 'tweaked' the colour? Can't imagine she's very well camouflaged given the background. (she was probably eaten my a marauding bird shortly afterwards – !)

  6. Were they regular hooters or porno ones?? Inquiring (dirty) minds need to know.

  7. I really don't know if it was a female, I was going with the song by Space-The Female Of The Species.Leah – Thanks.Sue – No, I don't 'tweak' my photos. (I'm not that good yet, that I would know how to do it properly.) It was really that green and where it was heading was a very green bush. The thing is, it'd probably put up a great fight against a small bird. It was about 4 inches long.Laura – All natural! Nature at it's finest. 🙂

  8. I can't wait until after WWIII and all the radiation makes these critters fifty feet tall.

  9. OMG … I hate ALL BIGS. That thing creeped me out!!

  10. Of course you know, it being a French insect, she said, "allo, Ros Bif." Then she went on for another five minutes about how British plants and insects have no flavor.

  11. Damn bugs, where is the can of Raid when you need it.
